(Faith Memories Accompanying Illness)

《My Child, You Have a Home in China:

One Chinese Christian’s Journey of the Pen: A Testimony Through Four Books By HuSir / Ming Hu

In an era where faith is controlled and conscience is silenced, writing itself is a form of perseverance. The following four books are one Chinese Christian’s honest record of faith, life, family, and society across decades of living within a real and difficult context.

A Chinese Christian’s Spiritual Journey (Volumes I & II)

These two volumes collect over 200 articles from the author’s personal blog, “HuSir’s Faith Journey” (husir.org).

Volume I centers on “awakening” — waking from slumber to see clearly the times and circumstances we inhabit. Topics include faith and political systems, repentance and freedom, rule of law versus rule by man, social observation, and biblical reflection.

Volume II (150+ articles) goes further, focusing on “taking root” — after awakening, how to sink faith deep into the soil of daily, concrete, and sometimes suffocating reality. The core themes explored throughout include: repentance is not merely admitting fault, but a complete reorientation of one’s life direction; freedom is not a product of one’s environment, but the true state of the heart in Christ; and how Christians can hold fast to truth in an environment of lies and fear.

Both volumes are available in Simplified Chinese and English.

Faith Memories Accompanying Illness

This is a raw and deeply personal memoir. The author chronicles the four years from his wife Dongping’s diagnosis with severe aplastic anemia in 2019 to her passing in 2022 — a period that ran almost exactly parallel with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The book details in vivid terms how a critically ill patient and her family endured the endless ordeal of nucleic acid testing, the coldness of the medical system, and profound questions of faith during lockdown. It is not only a record of one family’s suffering, but a true testimony of what ordinary people experienced during that extraordinary time. The book also documents the love and support of the church community, and the author’s own renewed understanding of faith, repentance, and life through the journey of accompanying his wife.

My Child, You Have a Home in China:

This is a bilingual family memoir. Writing as a father, the author addresses his daughter Hu Shuang — a child of Chinese heritage growing up in America. The book recounts family history, the faith of his parents, and the story of an ordinary Chinese family amid the changes of the times.

It is both an expression of a father’s love and a bridge for the next generation of overseas Chinese to understand their roots. The bilingual format, with English as the primary text supplemented by Chinese, allows two generations raised in different cultural contexts to read the same book together.

Reading Suggestions:

– If you are interested in the intersection of faith and public life, start with Volume I of A Chinese Christian’s Spiritual Journey.

– If you are seeking deeper spiritual reflection, Volume II will speak more directly to you.

– If you want to understand the real experience of a Chinese patient during the pandemic, Faith Memories Accompanying Illness is a rare first-hand account.

– If you are looking for a gift to help a child growing up overseas connect with their Chinese heritage, My Child, You Have a Home in China is a warm and meaningful choice.
